Porsche working on a Ferrari 458 competitor

The four members of the new Porsche family of cars includes a four-cylinder turbocharged version of the Boxster as well as a new eight-cylinder supercar wich will look to challenge the Ferrari 458.
This new model codenamed "988" is being tested with 4 turbos wich develop around 600 HP (more than the 562 HP of today's Ferrari 458 Italia), with more torque avalaible much lower down the rev range.
Even if there's no clear news, the 988 will have strong shades of the 918 hypercar about its styling and in detailing such as the headlights and we expect a long rear deck because of the mid-mounted flat eight engine.
Porsche is also developing a brand-new family of turbocharged and normally aspirated boxer engines,
which will come in four, six and eight-cylinder formats. The new engine family will generate much higher power densities and feature some innovative fuel-saving tech.
Porsche’s eight-cylinder supercar is expected to go on sale in 2017, closely followed by replacements for the Boxster, Cayman and 911.
